Elementary Parents

April 21, 2017

Dear Parents:

Six Mondays from now the 2016-2017 will come to an end. It has been an excellent year! The Lord has blessed Portland Christian School in profound ways this year, and is preparing us for continued blessings.

Next week our students will take the Terra Nova test. Terra Nova testing gives teachers, students and parents an opportunity to celebrate academic achievement. Please be sure to encourage rest, relaxation and proper nutrition this weekend so that each student approaches the testing week prepared to do their very best. You may want to send an additional snack each day. Elementary will test each morning Monday through Friday of next week; leaving the afternoons free for special areas, extended recess as well as rehearsal for the upcoming 4th – 6th grade performance. Homework, tests and quizzes will not be given during testing week. However, I do encourage continued reading for pleasure throughout the week.

On Wednesday, May 31st, PCS will have its annual awards program for our elementary school. This year, we will celebrate the academic achievements of our students in grades 1st thru 6th grade, as well as give special recognition to our 6th graders as they complete their last year of elementary school. The program will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the PCS auditorium. Please visit the school’s website for additional information on upcoming school events.

As I reflect on the mission of Portland Christian School, “…honoring our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Creator of all things, with a learning environment that is based on biblical principles and is intellectually stimulating. Our desire is to work cooperatively with the student's home and church, "so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”; I am amazed and honored by the many ways in which the Lord invites each of us to participate in His plan and purpose. Thank you for your support of Portland Christian School as we endeavor to realize His intentions.

Blessings,

Dr. Camille Gray

Elementary Principal

Portland Christian School

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)
