God continues to do great things at PCS! We were so blessed Easter week as Worship Leadership students prepared a special Easter Chapel. What a blessing to hear the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection as it was read from Scripture and sung in song! It was a great lead-in to our Good Friday and Easter celebrations last weekend. I trust you had a great Spring Break and pray God’s best for your family as we finish the rest of the year.
Below are a couple of updates. Thanks for allowing us to serve you and your students.
Varsity Boys Basketball
Coach Jeremy Niestadt has been a part of our varsity boys basketball coaching staff for the last several years, leading our boys program as head coach to an increased number of wins each year. We are grateful for his sacrifice, dedication, knowledge, and contribution to PCS Athletics. Coach Niestadt will not be returning next year. Matt Heid and Jason Mackey, who served this past year as assistant coaches, will continue their involvement in varsity boys basketball, including scheduling summer leagues and games until a head coach has been named.
We have begun the search process for a new varsity boys’ basketball coach. Interested candidates are invited to complete the initial online application here and may direct any questions to PCSAthletics@PortlandChristian.org. Applications will be received through Sunday, April 15, and candidates will be contacted regarding interviews next week. Thank you for supporting athletics at PCS and please keep this process in your prayers.
Parent Information Night
Our next Parent Information Night (P.I.N.) will be tomorrow night and will focus on “Next Steps for Student Success.” We will have different sessions for students entering 7th grade, 8th grade, 9th grade, 10th-12th grade, and one for those graduating this year. Come and learn how to make the next step for your student at PCS a great one! We will begin with a fellowship dinner at 5:30pm provided by the PTF ($5.00 suggested donation) and conclude by 7:30pm.
FREE Parenting Seminar
Celebrate Calm founder Kirk Martin and his son, Casey, have helped over 400,000 parents, teachers and students learn how to control their emotions and attitudes. Their strategies are concrete, practical and work in everyday situations whether your child is a two or twenty-two. USA Today, Parade Magazine and countless TV and Radio shows have relied on Kirk’s expertise to stop defiance, power struggles and sibling fights. PCS will be hosting a seminar by the Martins on Wednesday, April 18, 7:00-9:00pm. See the attached fly for more information. All are welcome to attend and no registration is needed.
