WHITE ELEPHANT CHARITY SALE AND AUCTION
Each year the PCS Alumni Association hosts an event to raise funds, most of which are used to purchase items or run events for the school. The White Elephant Sale has also been a social event where PCS alumni, current students, school families, and friends of the school gather for fellowship and fun. The Alumni Association, through a host of volunteers, runs booths that sell yard sale type items, used books, furniture, toys, collectibles, jewelry and many other items. The highlight each year is the live auction during which multiple items are auctioned off, sometimes pitting friends and family members bidding against one another in an attempt to raise the amount of income that will bless the school. As part of the White Elephant Sale several of the school classes have also run fundraisers – selling food and baked goods, running games and bounce houses, painting faces and selling ice cream – in order to raise money for various class trips or events.
In 2017 PCS added a Fall Festival to the White Elephant Sale in order to make the event larger and to provide fun for more people of all ages. The Parent-Teacher Fellowship runs a craft fair, and the school added live music, a kids’ hay maze, a fire truck and a police vehicle. For 2018 we are adding a petting zoo with alpacas and miniature goats to the fun! Please join us and bring your family and friends!
The Portland Christian School Alumni Association exists to support the school and to help it carry out its mission. We do this by seeking to encourage, affirm, love and support all those who are PCS alumni or who are or have been associated with the school. The Association sponsors events each year, such as the White Elephant Sale and the Alumni Banquet, which will help alumni and other friends of the school to reconnect with one another and the school so that they can be part of what God is doing through PCS.
