HIGH SCHOOL
Portland Christian School is a private, Christian school founded in 1924. The school, located on Westport Road, has served families in Louisville and surrounding areas for 99 years. The school’s passion is its focus on providing a Christian education to all families desiring a Christian worldview in the school setting.
The High School years are an opportunity for your children to deepen their relationship with God, teachers, fellow students, and the world around them. We strive to help our students grow spiritually and academically through a challenging curriculum intentionally designed with a Christian worldview.
PCS offers robust Dual Enrollment College Credit opportunities. We understand the importance of helping students transition into college prepared with a mature foundation of character as well as experienced in college level courses. PCS’s Dual Enrollment Program with Asbury University and Campbellsville University offers high-achieving students the opportunity to earn high school and college credit simultaneously.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Students at Portland Christian take courses that meet the State guidelines for standard and pre-college curriculum. These courses are designed to assist students in gaining admission into college and career vocations. Students must complete a total of either 24 (Standard) or 26 (Pre-college) credits based on desired diploma.

FACULTY
There are over 19 full-time faculty members. The faculty consists of certified teachers (State and or ACSI) with a Bachelor’s degree, with many faculty members having a Master’s Degree or greater. Our faculty-to-student ratio for high school is 1:14. Average class size is 15 students.

The high school currently has 130 students, allowing us to maintain small classroom ratios. This provides students with a more focused instructional experience, direct individualized support and greater opportunities in developing confidence academically, physically, socially, and in spiritual maturity. and academic success.

TESTING
Our students in grades K-11 take the MAP test three times a year. All schools are aiming for proficiency in student performance across the various subjects. Our scores show that the class averages for PCS students are in the Proficient or Nearing Proficient range in all subject areas.
